Cazenovia BagEnd

Cazenovia Bag End

Thank you so much for the use of this very special home for our daughter's graduation. Having worked with old barns, we spent the entire weekend admiring the craftsmanship. And the setting was perfect for a family celebration dinner, complete with a jaunt down to the lake for the maiden voyage of Haley's gift, a handmade wooden canvas canoe. We enjoyed the views, the flowers, the trails, the birds and deer. It was simply perfect.

Thank you, Barrett & Mary Peterson, Williston, Vt

The Bag End Experience

We had a family graduation in Cazenovia. Being from a large family from Massachusetts we needed to rent two houses to accommodate every one. We had the pleasure of getting the "Bag End Experience" What an extraordinary place. We found something amazing at every turn. The weather was a slight bump in the weekend but my family seems to find fun in each others company. Our oldest brother had also rented a home on the lake which too was absolutely beautiful and we spent time there as well.

As for the house, we found no room for improvement. There is no way to explain how amazing your home is. The water system was fine, a slight odor in the downstairs shower but nothing offensive. Onto the ground, the only word that comes to mind is "spectacular". We grew up with horses so seeing the trotter in the barn when looking for outside trash receptacle, made me smile. (my 15 year old son spied the atv and my 13 year old daughter spied the tree-house in the woods). Upon departure we all bid a sentimental farewell to Bag End and vowed to return. Thank you for contributing to a wonderful family memory. We hope to visit again soon.

Fondly The Lawless Family

        Wonderful Wedding Weekend
We stayed here for several days in September for our son's wedding. Since we are from Ohio, we had many out-of-town guests coming and we shared Bag End with another family and several friends and relatives. It was much nicer being together rather than having everyone in separate rooms at a hotel. Bag End, itself, was fabulous, both inside and out! The barn/house has quite an interesting and unique layout, with spacious areas and little nooks and crannies. The decor was lovely. We were a little nervous about having so many nice antiques around, since we had little kids with us as well as large adults, but everything was sturdy enough and quite homey. The only difficulty was trying to get the water to stay at the right temperature when you took a shower. And also, the water has an unpleasant sulfur smell. but the owners took great care to leave bottled drinking water in each bathroom. If you have little kids be sure to tell the owners, and they will provide a protective cover for the open space in the floor of one of the upstairs rooms. (It's part of the original barn--you have to see it to know what I mean.) On Sunday we help a pot-wedding brunch for all of the out-of-town guests and the wedding party, and Bag End was the PERFECT place for such an event. The kitchen was fully equipped for all sorts of cooking and entertaining, and the living/dining areas are so spacious that the house can absorb many guests easily. You can also spill out onto the yard and onto a darling patio that was full of lavender cleome in full bloom. Bag End will be part of our wedding memories for years to come. Thank you.
